First of all, I want to thank all of you for your comments. Please keep them coming.
Ok, so I wanted to elaborate on my bit of quilt philosophy that quilts have a story.
I think we all know what story this quilt tells. But let me try to tell you the story of this quilt.
The story begins with my sister being a minister. Some years ago (about 8) she was going to lead a woman's retreat. Part of the focus was God's gift of creativity. As she was preparing for the retreat, she was trying to develop some group activities that involved the women's creativity. She thought that she would have the women do a word type (pseudo) quilt or an a quilt where each woman wrote something on a block that would then be put together. So when my sister asked me to design a quilt along those lines, I asked her what other activities she had. My sister is a true WORDS person. Every thing that she thought of involved words. Now I'm not saying that I am adverse to words, because (obviously) I am not. I just thought that there could be another way that a group could express themselves with pictures & colors without words. So I designed this quilt. No completely clear Idea of what it would look like, as there would be 20 women contributing. I decided on light blue blocks. Then I gathered MANY coloring book style animals and made template of them. I drew the ark and the Noah and his wife. I set out a box of remnants, needles, thread, yarn and fusible interfacing along with the template. I also pre appliqued the double block ark, bare bones that is. Each woman had their own level of ability so each block had a different feel. It was amazing to watch each block take shape.
After the retreat was over, many of the women did not want it to just pass into history. So when it came to putting the Quilt together I had a great deal of help. As the top begin to take shape on our Sat. Meetings, those women started adding to the sashes and then the boarders. Thus the creepy crawlys, the flutterbys and fishies in the sea. Some were not sure about the ribbon rainbow. But all liked it when I got finished. It took 3 Sat. , all were happy. The ladies decided that instead of auctioning it off they wanted it hung in the Lounge meeting room. So there it hangs.
The block of Noah & Mrs. Noah is my block.

Thanks for visiting my blog and for commenting! I love your quilts...both of them. I am partial to fall ones really.
My kitty ends up everytime on his back with one leg up in the air, and right before I smapped the pic he was covering his eyes with his paw!
