Slow progress

DH and I went for a walk/hike in one of our near by state parks this morning/noon. Among other beautiful pictures, I got some more that are inspirations for my "In the Forest" Quilt.

That reminds me that I haven't given you a progress report on this project for a while.

So I thought I would go back a ways to start, and show you some of the fabrics I am using in this quilt.
The sky fabric.

Then there is the forest fabric.

Brown for woods and grounds.

Ground & path fabric.

Focus fabric for the blocks to built around.

And the sashing and boarder fabric.

So here on my "design wall" ( sheet on the living room floor ) are my nine blocks as they stand today. When you live in a one bedroom apartment, there really isn't room for a design wall. There will be 12 or 20 blocks when done. That depends on if the quilt is to be a single or double bed side when it is done. I am planning on it being double bed sized but as slow as it is going that may get modified.

This is my largest block. The one closest to finished. I decided that rather then trying to square of the blocks, I would make the last row of the sashing fabric all the way around. Then trim and square the block off to 13 1/2 inches unfinished. The blocks are suppose to be 11 1/2 inches unfinished with 2 inch sashing. Notice the bottom row of this block is the sash fabric. With just a little more on the corners, the whole block will be ready for the sash fabric.

Your blocks are looking really good so far. Nice choice of fabrics.
