Finally pics

Well I finally have some of my more recent pics developed.

Every year DH gets me either a cat or quilt calendar for my desk at work. So from this year's calendar I decided to make yet another wall quilt. This was for Mother's Day for my mom. So I looked through May and chose this one. By the way, this calendar not only gives a pic of the quilt idea but on the back of the page it gives the pattern and instructions for each block in the quilt. Thus one quilt can take up the pages for up to a week or more.

Well, as I've mentioned before, patterns can't follow them. At least not exactly. First, I decided it had to be completely from my stash. Thus the colors change. Second, the handle was tooooooo plan. I made it kind of 3D and colorful. I braided scrape bias tape. Third, the inner block looked too crowded so I had to float it. Finally, My boarder is wider, darker and not broken with squares at the corners.

Ok, I decided that the heart was just to perfect so when I appliqued it on I went for the folk art look. At that point the leaf applique looked off. so I went to quilting. After stitching in the ditch all of the main lines, I used variegated reds embroidery floss and did an echo stitch around the inner block and free hand quilted hearts in the corners.

On to other matters. As stress in our lives lessens, seance my father's passing, I am ready to go back to full sized quilts. I gathered all the fabric I think I need for the one I want to start with. More to come on that latter.

I like the changes you have made to the pattern. It makes it your own.

Hi there, Rae. I did not measure the blocks for the quilt in which you were interested...but they were at least 12 inches. I have a little line drawing that I made of the block...but I have not figured out any measurements at this point. I don't think this is one that I will be making any time soon!! Hopefully the quilt will still be there next time I go up there.

Of course you can show the quilt. However you want to do it is fine with me. I will be excited to see your blocks. How cool.
