The problem with not having much time to blog, is when you do have time you have so many things that you want to share.
To start with ---- I am almost finished with the hand embroidery centers of the pink flower Hawaiian block. Next I will put a narrow border around each of the Hawaiian blocks. Then the outer boarder.
Next ----- My liberated log cabin "In The Forest" blocks, continue to grow. I have never been that fond of green quilts but I am really liking this one. (no peeking yet)

Those of you who like scrappy quilts- How about one form the 50s/60s. Those of you who have orphan blocks -- how about this. This is the top (front) side of a quilt of from my Grandmother that I found while cleaning out my parents house. All of these pieces were hand pieced by her when she was in her 70s and well into her 80s.

Now are you ready for the bottom side of this wonder. ------
I love it, don't you?
And we think we are so innovative with liberated log cabins. My husband asked me if I thought that that was accidental. I don't believe so. Look at the other side. She never strayed off her 1/4 inch line. All of the cabins have a bright yellow centers.
Oh my Goodness. I just remembered the story. (My grand mother lived with us until her death when I was about 21. She would tell me "stories" while she quilted and I took a rest. I was not a healthy child & had to take "naps" every day when I got home form school until I was about 12 or 13. ) Have any of you read "hidden in Plan Sight." My Grandmothers mothers grew up in a town in MO that has become famous for its Underground Railroad connections. As a child I didn't know this. I knew that my Great Grandmother's house was a way station for the underground railroad. My grand Mother would tell me about how certain things came from those days. I now remember these log cabin blocks. She told me that a log cabin block with a yellow center told Underground "passengers" that that house was a way station. I will have to check the ties on this quilt. She told me that the spacing on quilt ties marked mileage or acreage. The pattern marked by the ties marked the Underground "track." I know she used 2 colors of yarn on this quilt. I will have to get back to you on that.
I wanted to leave you with some pictures of our trip but darn that blogger.
